YOKOSUKA, Japan (March 4, 2021) Utilitiesman 1st Class Travis Kearns secures a 250-pound zinc anode onto a steel pile at Harbor Master Pier at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY), Japan. The anodes are welded on to the pile using underwater welding techniques developed and perfected by the Underwater Construction Teams. For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.
