ATLANTIC OCEAN (Feb. 6, 2021) Sailors salute Gen. Glen D. VanHerck, commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, on the flight deck aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69). This visit highlights the carrier strike group’s unmatched sustained readiness against persistent proximate threats that exist in this maritime era of Great Power Competition. Maritime Homeland Defense is a no-fail mission as our competitors have the capability and capacity to hold North America at-risk. Our Naval forces continue to be a global force for security and stability and remain focused in protecting the American homeland.
