PHILIPPINE SEA (Dec. 17, 2020) The French Navy Rubis-class nuclear-powered submarine FS Émeraude (S-604) sails in formation with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Hyūga-class helicopter destroyer JS Hyūga (DDH 181) while conducting integrated maritime security operations with the guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain (DDG 56). John S. McCain is assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest forward-deployed DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.
