AFRICATOWN, Ala. (Feb. 1, 2020) The welcome sign for the small town of Africatown, Ala. In 2019, the schooner Clotilda, the last know ship to bring African slaves to the U.S., was discovered. This recent discovery has brought with it the hope of revival to the town, founded by African captives of the Clotilda. Recently, Navy Recruiting Command and Navy Recruiting Orientation Unit Sailors have conducted community service and volunteer projects to help further revitalize the town.
