ATLANTIC OCEAN (Nov. 15, 2020) The Cyclone-class coastal patrol ship USS Zephyr (PC 8), U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Charles Sexton (WPC 1108)and Brazilian training ship BNS Brasil (U 27) held a memorial wreath-laying ceremony at sea to honor the 40 U.S. Navy Sailors and two Brazilian Sailors who lost their lives in the sinking of the World War II submarine, USS R-12 (SS 89) off the coast of Key West, Nov. 15. U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet supports U.S. Southern Command�s joint and combined military operations by employing maritime forces in cooperative maritime security operations to maintain access, enhance interoperability, and build enduring partnerships in order to enhance regional security and promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region that includes the Caribbean, Central America and South America.
