YOKOSUKA, Japan (Oct. 19, 2020) The self-propelled grab hopper barge Dai Nanajuu-hachi Oyariki-maru dredges silt from Truman Bay and deposits it into the sand carrier Hikari, as part of construction work for a new pier onboard Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY). The pier is scheduled to be completed in September 2022. For 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.
