OKINAWA, Japan (Sept. 27, 2020) Marines assigned to Bridge Company, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, and Seabees assigned to U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3 connect Improved Ribbon Bridge (IRB) bays during a bridging exercise at Naha Military Port in Okinawa, Japan. IRBs provide a wet-gap crossing capability either as a floating bridge or as a multi-bay raft for tracked and wheeled vehicles. NMCB-3 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
