YOKOSUKA, Japan (Sept. 11, 2020) Chief Navy Counselor Min Jun, from Davis, California, salutes while Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Alexander Wright, from Miami, and Seaman Joshua Oconer, from Morgan Hill, California, raise the national ensign during a 9/11 remembrance ceremony on the main deck of U.S. 7th Fleet flagship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19). 19 years ago, almost 3,000 people were killed during the 9/11 tragic event where 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Blue Ridge is the oldest operational ship in the Navy and, as 7th Fleet command ship, actively works to foster relationships with allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
