NAVAL AIR STATION NORTH ISLAND (July 31, 2020) Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist (EAWS) coordinator of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) Chief Aviation Maintenance Administrationman Brad Shuhart, and Air Department Sailors hoist the EAWS pennant during a Hhauling up" ceremony aboard Essex. Over eighty percent of Essex Aviation Sailors are currently qualified to wear the EAWS insignia, which authorizes Essex to fly the pennant. Essex is homeported in San Diego.
