SAN DIEGO (July 29, 2020) Hospitalman Haleigh Turney, left, and Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Tamarra Francois, assigned to Naval Medical Center San Diego's (NMCSD) Labor and Delivery ward, record data during an hour of life assessment on a newborn at the hospital. The hour of life assessment consists of documenting the newborn's length and weight, taking an impression of the baby's footprint and monitoring the baby's vital signs. NMCSD's mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality healthcare services, and shape the future of military medicine through education, training, and research. NMCSD employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians, and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
