200716-N-OI810-0161 ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND (July 16, 2020) New midshipmen (plebes) continue their daily life in the COVID-19 environment at USNA. Before interacting with their first set of detailers, the plebes will undergo a 14-day restriction of movement (ROM). During this time, training is conducted in the virtual environment; focusing on moral and mental development. Daily cleaning and disinfection of personal and common spaces to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is also a part of this routine. For the Class of 2024, their time as plebes will look very different than years prior, and their experience will be marked by the challenges Naval Academy leadership faces to ensure safety while maintaining an effective training environment.
