Payne, lead for the Department of Defense COVID-19 Task Force, Diagnostics and Testing Line of Effort, visits Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) to observe COVID-19 testing efforts and to thank staff for their hard work and continued dedication during the coronavirus pandemic. Payne visited the centralized screening area, where patients are screened via drive-thru or walk-in, and the microbiology lab testing COVID-19 samples. WRNMMC and all military treatment facilities in the National Capital Region efforts are in support of the whole of government effort to combat COVID-19 along the East Coast of the United States.
