(Aug. 27, 2015) Megan Lickliter-Mundon, a researcher with the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, explains the special solution a girder from USS Macon (ZRS 5) is soaking in as part of preservation efforts. The artifact, taken from the Feb. 12, 1935, wreck of airship Macon was brought to Naval History and Heritage Command's Underwater Archaeology and Conservation Laboratory to study the effects of 80 years at 1,500 feet under the Pacific Ocean.
