150601-N-HQ940-035 U.S. 5th FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (June 1, 2015) Gunner's Mate 3rd Class Bernard Meggs, from New Orleans, completes a daily check on a .50 caliber machine gun aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS McFaul (DDG 74). McFaul is independently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, maritime security operations and theatre security cooperation efforts in the region.
