(April 29, 2015) Musician 3rd Class Andrea Pharis, from Haddon Heights, N.J., a member of the Navy Band Southwest rock ensamble, Destroyers, sings to students during a Navy Week Shreveport performance for the LightHouse After-School Program at Judson Fundamental Elementary Magnet School. LightHouse is a program of Volunteers of America with a mission of helping students overcome poverty, illiteracy and joblessness. Navy Weeks focus a variety of assets, equipment and personnel on a single city for a week-long series of engagements designed to bring America's Navy closer to the people it protects, in cities that don't have a large naval presence.
