150215-N-YW024-124 PACIFIC OCEAN (Feb. 15, 2015) Aviation Electrician's Mate 3rd Class Dakota Flint, assigned to Helicopter Maritime Squadron (HSM) 35 embarked aboard the littoral combat ship USS Fort Worth (LCS 3), performs a pre-flight check on an MQ-8B Fire Scout unmanned helicopter aboard the littoral combat ship USS Freedom (LCS 1) during an Independent Deployer Certification Exercise (IDCERTEX). IDCERTEX, led by Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet (C3F) and executed by Commander, Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 15, is being conducted Feb. 9-20 off the Coast of Southern California and Hawaii. The exercise includes Crew 102, embarked aboard Freedom, the guided-missile destroyers USS Lake Champlain (CG 57), USS Chosin (CG 65) and the guided-missile destroyers USS Preble (DDG 88) and USS Chafee (DDG 90). IDCERTEX will serve as CSG 15's final opportunity to evaluate and certify Preble, Chafee and Crew 102 across multiple warfare areas prior to regularly scheduled deployments.
