GULF OF ADEN (Dec. 6, 2016) Marines and Sailors with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) load tactical vehicles onto a landing craft air cushion in preparation for movement from ship during exercise Alligator Dagger, Dec. 6, 2016 aboard the USS Somerset (LPD 25). The ARG and MEU’s versatility is demonstrated through self-sustained operations, including ground, logistical and air assets. Exercise Alligator Dagger enhances the Navy-Marine Corps team’s ability to be a flexible, adaptable and persistent force to ensure regional security in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
