Frank Bishop, lead ophthalmologist at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD), places a suction cup on a patient during a surgical procedure utilizing femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS). NMCSD is the first military medical facility to ever offer FLACS, which offers patients increased precision and less damage to surrounding tissue.
