Bryan Juntunen (left), the assistant program manager for end to end integration of the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) conducts a MUOS demonstration for Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) (Right), the chairman of the House Armed Services strategic forces subcommittee, during Rogers’ visit to the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific. Rogers observed all the MUOS capabilities and confirgurations, as he and Juntunen conducted a point-to-point call from San Diego to Aberdeen, Maryland, accessed a classified website via a MUOS radio and sent an unclassified text to Rogers’ mobile phone. MUOS’ advanced Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) capability, which entered into Early Combatant Commander Use (ECU) in July, provides greater than 10 times the bandwidth capacity campared with the current UHF constellation.
