161014-N-UK248-019 SAN DIEGO (Oct. 14, 2016) — A line handler assigned to Naval Station San Diego releases the mooring line as the amphibious dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45) departs Naval Station San Diego for a scheduled deployment. Comstock is a part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, which will serve in the U.S. 3rd, 5th, and 7th Fleet area of operation, providing maritime security operations, crisis response capability, theater security cooperation and forward naval presence.
