EDINBURG, Texas (Oct. 5, 2016) Waipahu, Hawaii native, Senior Chief Petty Officer Fesouaina Salinas, a division leading chief petty officer assigned to Navy Recruiting District San Antonio, speaks to young Latinas and their mothers regarding pregnancy in the U.S. Navy during Latina Day held at the 2016 Hispanic Engineering, Science and Technology (HESTEC) Week on the campus of the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. Latina Day provided Latino officer and enlisted Sailors the direct opportunity to provide young Latinas and their mothers with grassroots perspectives on opportunities, benefits, and careers in the Navy. HESTEC Week is an educational conference that features events geared towards promoting STEM education to people of all ages and backgrounds.
