Land (AS 39) watches on as Sailors assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Benfold (DDG 65) and Naval Munitions Command East Asia Division Unit Guam remove an expended canister from the destroyer’s vertical launch system (VLS). The two ships conducted an exercise to demonstrate surface VLS ordnance handling between an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer and a submarine tender. Emory S.
