160923-N-XQ474-168 PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 23, 2016) Capt. Wilson Marks, commanding officer aboard the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville (CG 62), stands on the bridge wing as U.S. Navy vessels attached to the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group and Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 5 transit the Philippine Sea in formation for a photo exercise during Valiant Shield 2016. Valiant Shield is a biennial, U.S. only, field-training exercise with a focus on integration of joint training among U.S. forces. This is the sixth exercise in the Valiant Shield series that began in 2006. Chancellorsville is on patrol with CSG 5 in the Philippine Sea supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
