160923-N-JS726-137 PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 23, 2016) The aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) and the guided-misisle destroyer USS Benfold (DDG 65) participate in a formation of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 5 and Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 7 ships during a photo exercise to signify the completion of Valiant Shield 2016. VS16 is a biennial, U.S.-only, field training exercise with a focus on integration of joint training to enable real-world proficiency in sustaining joint forces through detecting, locating, tracking, and engaging units at sea, in the air, on land, and in cyberspace.
