160803-N-HA376-427 DILI, Timor-Leste (Aug. 3, 2016) - U.S. Navy Machinist’s Mate 1st Class Christopher Simmons, assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5, drives a rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) to test it’s seaworthiness following repairs made to it together with Forsa Defesa Timor-Leste (F-FDTL) service members during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Timor-Leste 2016. The focus of CARAT is developing maritime security capabilities and increasing interoperability among participants. Skill areas exercised during CARAT include Maritime Interdiction Operations; riverine, amphibious and undersea warfare operations; diving and salvage operations; naval gunnery and maneuvering events, along with disaster response exercises.
