Richard Simcock, left, along with retired and active duty Marines and Guam government officials, carry a commemorative wreath to lay at a memorial honoring those lost during the Second Battle of Guam during the 72nd annual celebration of Guam Liberation Day. Liberation Day commemorates the reclaiming of the island of Guam from Japanese control after World War II in 1944, participants in the celebration include Marines, Airmen, and Sailors from local bases, as well as Marines and Sailors from 3rd Marine Division Color Guard and III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) band, based out of Okinawa, Japan.
