Brett Crozier, executive officer of the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), fires an MK 38 chain gun on the XO’s sponson. The MK 38 fires 25mm rounds, has an approximate range of 4,000 yards and can fire 400 rounds per minute. The USS Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group is on patrol in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
