SASEBO, Japan (May 22, 2016) Master-at-Arms 1st Class Carlos Hernandez, assigned to Commander, U.S. Fleet Activities Sasebo, rings a memorial bell as the names of the fallen were read at the Soto Dam memorial, May 22, 2016. The annual memorial ceremony is held for the 53 American POWS and 14 Japanese who died building Soto Dam during World War II. Sasebo erected the memorial for both American and Japanese dead in 1956.
