NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Apr. 7, 2016)— Pre-Commissioning Unit Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) Ship Sponsor Susan Ford Bales, unveils a statue of her father, the ship’s namesake, Gerald R. Ford in the ship's hangar bay. Bales, sculptor J. Brett Grill, and representatives of Huntington Ingalls Industries Newport News Shipbuilding, where the ship is currently under construction attended the event. The statue depicts Gerald R.
