Michael Ruth, commanding officer of amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) as she boards the ship. Tyson came aboard Boxer to address the crew prior to the ship getting underway for a scheduled deployment. More than 4,500 Sailors and Marines from the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (13th MEU) departed San Diego today for a deployment to the U.S. 3rd, 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operations.
