160212-N-RM689-130 GULF OF THAILAND (Feb. 12, 2016) - Marines assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) operate an amphibious assault vehicle (AAV) off the coast of Thailand as part of an amphibious capabilities demonstration in support of Cobra Gold (CG) 16. Amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) is assigned to the Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group, and is participating in exercise CG 16, a Thai-U.S. co-sponsored multinational joint exercise designed to advance regional security by exercising a robust multinational force from nations sharing common goals and security commitments in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
