160123-N-CJ186-445 ARABIAN GULF (Jan. 23, 2016) Aerographer’s Mate 2nd Class Shaun Theobald, assigned to Commander, Task Group 56.1, moves an unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) aboard the Bay-class landing ship dock Cardigan Bay (L3009) of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary during a quarterly Squadron Exercise (Squadex). Squadex is a minecountermeasures exercise designed to assess the abilities of U.S. Navy explosive ordnance disposal units and reaffirm their proficiency with the units’ latest equipment. CTG 56.1 conducts mine countermeasure, explosive ordnance disposal, salvage-diving, and force protection operations throughout the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
