160109-N-OA833-241 MUSCAT, Oman (Jan. 9, 2015) Sailors attached to the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) and Marines attached to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) eat lunch on the rocks of Jebel Shams during a Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) tour. Kearsarge is the flagship for the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 26 MEU, is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
