171221-N-DS883-065 PORTLAND, Ore. (Dec. 21, 2017) Military Sealift Command Civilian Mariners assigned to the submarine tender USS Frank Cable (AS 40) look out as the ship transits the Columbia River following a scheduled dry-dock phase maintenance availability in Portland, Ore. The ship will soon be conducting sea trials, which constitutes the final determination of a ship’s ability to rejoin the fleet as an operational unit to conduct maintenance and support of submarines and surface vessels deployed to the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
