171109-N-FG395-005 WATERS OFF THE COAST OF JAPAN (Nov. 9, 2017) Machinist's Mate 2nd Class Sorsha Vargas, from Chicago, prepares a lube oil sample for testing aboard the Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). The lube oil centrifuge will spin lube oil samples at 1,900 RPM to seperate any potential impurities from the oil to ensure the sample is free of sediment, water and other debris. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
