171107-N-AX638-0024 SOUTH CHINA SEA (Nov. 7, 2017) Damage Controlman 3rd Class Joshua Myers performs a maintenance check on a fog machine aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Howard (DDG 83). Fog machines are used to simulate smoke during damage control drills. Howard is part of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group on a regularly scheduled deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts.
