171007-N-QY759-0335 SASEBO, Japan (Oct. 7, 2017) Navy Region Japan Fire & Emergency Services personnel worked with the Sasebo City Fire Bureau to coordinate the response to a simulated hazmat spill and decontamination exercise as part of Sasebo City's annual disaster drill held at Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Camp Ainoura. The Commander, U.S. Fleet Activities Sasebo Emergency Management Office, Commander, Navy Region Japan Fire & Emergency Services and Naval Hospital Yokosuka Branch Health Clinic Sasebo participated in the drill along with local, prefectural and defense force first responders and service organizations. The drill was built around responding to disaster-related scenarios such as firefighting, medical triage, decontamination and performing repairs such as fixing downed power lines and broken gas lines.
