Howard Pryor, Comfort's director for surgical services, while the ship is moored in Puerto Rico. Comfort hosted local and federal stakeholders to synchronize efforts for the ship's mission of providing humanitarian assistance throughout the area. The Department of Defense is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Maria to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
