170929-N-VK310-0051 CARIBBEAN SEA (Sept. 29, 2017) Thierry Rolle, a resident of French Guadalupe, speaks with Naval Aircrewman (Helicopter) 2nd Class Brandon Larnard on an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter attached to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 22 prior to departing the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) en route to the island of Guadalupe. Rolle and another passenger were rescued by HSC-22 personnel after their private aircraft crashed into the water off the coast of Dominica on Sept. 28. Wasp is currently participating in humanitarian relief efforts in the Caribbean Sea following the landfall of Hurricane Maria. The Department of Defense is supporting the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Maria to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
