170928-N-SA412-0024 CARIBBEAN SEA (Sept. 28, 2017) Sailors signal an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 22, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), after rescuing victims of a private airplane crash off the coast of Dominica. The two passengers are currently being treated for minor injuries onboard Wasp. Wasp has been supporting humanitarian aid efforts on Dominica following the landfall of Hurricane Maria. The Department of Defense is supporting United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Maria to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
