170919-N-NM306-0012 CARIBBEAN SEA (Sept. 19, 2017) The Military Sealift Command dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS William McLean (T-AKE 12), the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) and the aviation logistics support container ship SS Wright (T-AVB-3) transit the Caribbean Sea alongside USS Wasp (LHD 1). The ships have been participating in humanitarian relief efforts in the Caribbean in the wake of Hurricane Irma. The Department of Defense is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
