170919-N-AH771-0129 MAYPORT, Fla. (Sept. 19, 2017) The amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) is observed from the flight deck as the ship pulls into its homeport at Naval Station Mayport, Fla. Iwo Jima returned to homeport after completing initial humanitarian relief efforts following Hurricane Irma’s landfall in Key West, Fla. The Department of Defense is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
