170915-N-FV739-121 SAN DIEGO (Sept. 15, 2017) Chief Fire Controlman Kyle Seager, assigned to the future guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Monsoor (DDG 1001), walks a chief petty officer combination cover through side boys before presenting it to Sally Monsoor in honor of her son, Medal of Honor recipient Master-at-Arms 2nd Class (SEAL) Michael A. Monsoor. Michael A. Monsoor died in combat in 2006 and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. The second ship of the Zumwalt class of guided-missile destroyers, USS Monsoor, was named in his honor and will serve as a multi-mission platform capable of operating as an integral part of naval, joint or combined maritime forces.
