170914-N-IM651-012 ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (Sept. 14, 2017) The interior of Schneider Regional Medical Center, the only hospital on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, shows significant damage from Hurricane Irma. The 185-mph winds caused the hospital's roof to collapse, resulting in flooding and overall destruction throughout the building. The U.S. military is currently building a temporary hospital to treat patients in a nearby parking lot and will continue to support the lead federal agency, FEMA, as well as the state and local authorities in disaster relief efforts.
