CROIX, U.S. Virgin Islands (Sept. 10, 2017) Marine sergeants Jimmy Roberts (left) and Kyle Mohr, assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 162 (Reinforced), embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), load drinking water from St. Croix Air Guard Station onto a UH-1Y Super-Huey for delivery to St. Thomas. Kearsarge and the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit are assisting with relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. The Department of Defense is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
