170908-N-OA516-0064 ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 8, 2017) The amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) is underway in the Atlantic Ocean in preparation for potential humanitarian relief efforts. The DoD is supporting FEMA, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
