170830-M-WQ703-011 LOS ANGELES (Aug. 30, 2017) Alyssa mata, a Sailor assigned to the Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Scout (MCM 8), hammers nails into the frame of a structure during a Habitat for Humanity neighborhood rebuild project in Long Beach, Calif., during Los Angeles Fleet Week (LAFW). LAFW is an opportunity for the public to meet their Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard teams and experience America's sea services. During fleet week, service members will participate in various community service events, showcase capabilities and equipment to the community and enjoy the hospitality that Los Angeles and surrounding areas have to offer.
