170819-N-AC254-010 KOTA KINABALU, Malaysia (Aug. 19, 2017) Quartermaster 3rd Class Rene Lemus, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), uses a gyroscope to monitor the ship's course during its departure from Malaysia following a port visit. America was in Malaysia to enhance U.S. and Malaysian relations and to experience the culture of the country. America and its amphibious ready group are operating in the Indo-Asia Pacific region to strengthen partnerships and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
