170818-N-FA490-003 PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 18, 2017) An F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to the "Mighty Shrikes" of Strike Fighter Attack Squadron (VFA) 94 prepares for takeoff aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). Theodore Roosevelt is underway conducting a composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) with the its carrier strike group in preparation for an upcoming deployment. COMPTUEX tests a carrier strike group’s mission-readiness and ability to perform as an integrated unit through simulated real-world scenarios.
