170718-N-ON977-0025 MUTSU BAY, Japan (July 18, 2017) An explosive ordnance disposal technician assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5, Platoon 502, uses a Shark Marine Underwater Navigator during a dive in Japan's Mutsu Bay as part of the 2JA Mine Countermeasure Exercise (2JA MCMEX). 2JA MCMEX is an annual bilateral exercise between the U.S. Navy and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force to strengthen interoperability and increase proficiency in mine countermeasure operations.
